GARY | Many Gary Middle College graduates had their parents in the stands cheering for them Saturday, but Dominique Hannah had one sitting with him wearing her own cap and gown. "When I went to enroll my boys here, I learned not just students but adults could enroll," Tewhonna Hannah said. Tewhonna said she attended college, but was missing a few high school credits. So, she decided to enroll in classes with Dominique.

I am an English teacher at Gary Middle College. We are a second-chance high school. Our students are driven. They may have families and jobs, but they CHOOSE to come to our school everyday to get that long-deferred high school diploma. Let me tell you about one of our students, John E. Beard III.

On April 30th, Gary Middle College, a second-chance high school located in Gary, IN, honored five students for their reading achievement:Keith Rose, Fantasa Smith, Shirley Smith, Lisa Guy, and Shonese Holmes.

Cozell and Damon Thomas sat on the bleachers in the 21st Century Charter School gym and joined the sea of applause for the school's 31 graduating seniors, including their daughter Devan. The Gary school called the May 14 event "signing day." It's a celebration because all 31 seniors in the Class of 2015 have been accepted to college, many with dual credits.
