Dear Friends:
It was a great weekend in NW Indiana where GEO’s 21st Century Charter School varsity basketball team won it’s 5th Sectional Championship (4th in a row) and earned a trip to Regionals this weekend. The sports pages will give you all the stats on points, rebounds, assists and steals, and while that is important, what I’m most proud of is that our students understand the importance of getting themselves ready for the game of life, too. Check these stats–both our basketball team AND our cheerleaders will have earned and/or are earning 252 college credits by May of this year. Our varsity cheerleaders are all seniors and they’ve already earned 147 college credits. One of our cheerleaders should complete her associates degree by May. Our starters for our basketball team are four juniors and one sophomore and they’ve already earned 68 college credits with the entire team having earned a combined 105 credits. One of our junior players should complete his associates degree by the time he graduates in 2020. Pretty cool! |
So while it’s fun winning a game and a championship, I’m really glad to see our students keep their eyes on the real prize–their future success.
Yes, it’s fun changing the world together! |
Sincerely,
Kevin Teasley President GEO Foundation 317-694-9985 Twitter: @teasleygeo |
