27% of our students are in top 5% of State

A new report from the Indiana Higher Education Commission reports that only 5% of Indiana high school graduates in 2016 earned more than 30 college credits while in high school. This year, 27% of GEO’s 21st Century Charter School students in Gary, Indiana, will graduate high school having already earned 30 or more college credits. This year’s graduation class as a whole has earned an average of 19 college credits each. That puts the class as a whole in the top 25% of the state.

At GEO, we prioritize college and career readiness. As a result, our college and career readiness rating surpasses the college and career ratings of nearly every high school in the state, including many of the wealthiest districts in the state.

This past week, Paul Pastorek, former State Superintendent of Schools in Louisiana, stopped by to tour our school. The students with him in the picture are aiming to earn bachelor degrees while in our high school.
