It’s an honor to share with you this report(click on “report” to go to the study) on our Gary school. The report was completed by researchers at the American Enterprise Institute, one of our nation’s most respected public policy think tanks.
When we started our school in Gary, Indiana, it was on the heels of many political battles I had fought around the country in support of school choice. I grew tired of the grind of political campaigns which often times resulted in very little improvements in the communities I wanted to help most. I wanted to help students NOW!
But I didn’t want to leave politics altogether. Rather, I wanted to start a school model that may one day lead policymakers to consider our approach and take it to a bigger stage.
This report is an important step toward that goal. It is my hope that we can have a bigger impact and bring greater educational opportunities (GEO) to students who need and deserve our very best attention and support. We are doing that in Gary and we are doing that in Baton Rouge. Where next?
Many thanks to Amy Cummings and Rick Hess for researching and writing this report and to the American Enterprise Institute for publishing it. Much appreciated!
Yes, it’s fun changing the world together!
Sincerely,
