Katrina Hudson

Katrina Hudson has been working in higher education for over seven years. She has a passion for providing leadership, guidance, and personal growth to a variety of students; such as, nontraditional, first generational, minority, and at-risk students as well as implementing and coordinating programs that speak to the retention and success of underrepresented populations. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications/Marketing and she has a Master’s Degree in Higher Educational Leadership. She began her career at Illinois State University where she worked for programs such as TRIO (Student Support Services), Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation and the Julia N. Visor Academic Center.

Ms. Hudson currently works for Ivy Tech Community College-Lake County, serving as the Program Coordinator of the Associate Accelerated Program (ASAP). This is Ivy Tech’s most distinguished and distinctive of programs that allows students to graduate with their Associates Degree in eleven months and ultimately complete their bachelor’s degree in three years.

Katrina has advised, mentored, and counseled over 300 students. She is a huge advocate for students and her community.

Lisa Edwards

Lisa Edwards is the Director of TRIO Services at Ivy Tech Community College Lake County. This program includes Educational Talent Search and Student Support Services. She is President Elect for Indiana TRIO and also serves on the Educational Opportunity Association board for the Midwest region. Lisa recently served at the Academic Counselor in the Talent Search program for 5 years. Her past experiences also include serving as the Regional Manager of Tutoring Services at Ivy Tech NW and Director of Housing Management at the Gary Housing Authority. Lisa has lived and worked in Gary all of her life.

Ms. Edwards has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She has completed all of the coursework required for a PhD in Higher Education Leadership at Indiana State University and is currently working on her dissertation.

She has a passion for helping first-generation, non-traditional, and low-income students in the community and connecting them to the tools needed for success in obtaining secondary degrees.

Enrollment at Gary Middle College (East & West) is open to all students, no matter where you live.
We serve students from Gary and all around the area!

Both locations for Gary Middle College (East & West) operate Monday-Friday, from 8:00AM-8:00PM. Three shifts are offered to accommodate different schedules. You may choose which shift works for you. Part-Time Schedule with Full-Time Results!

Morning: 8 AM – 11 AM
Afternoon: 12 PM – 3 PM
Evening: 4 PM – 8 PM

Free child care for Gary Middle College students is available at an off-site location.
Students are responsible for dropping off and picking up their child from the facility.
